Touch the Pearl is an 8-10-piece soul-funk-groove machine. The band, from across the north-west, honed its stagecraft over several years playing major venues & events across the UK, Ireland & Europe, including the Mean Fiddler in London and Band on the Wall in Manchester, supporting acts as diverse as ELO to Edwin Starr, whilst headlining at prestigious events like the Blackpool Tower Christmas Tree Ball on a regular basis. It also secured regular work with agents responsible for Armed Forces events & chains such as Brannigans and was invited by the Tourism Department to represent Blackpool in Cork at the Irish Tourism Convention. The band is now more seasoned and sassy than ever before & its stage shows are not to be missed. It can draw on a catalogue of original material but for parties and functions it has an extensive list of classic soul, funk, groove & dance tunes that spans the decades. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday party, charity or corporate event, the band has yet to play a gig where the audience was not on its feet and begging for more by the end of the night!
The band (Vocal, 3-b-vox, bass, guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion, saxophone) has its own insured PA & lighting with engineer. It can set up & sound check in 90 minutes, play one long set or 2 shorter sets; it can provide background music or a full-on disco to compliment the live performances, playing music for all tastes and for all occasions.
Touch the Pearl is unique around the north-west & beyond. As well as having 3 gorgeous female backing singers who deliver flawless vocal harmonies to all the best in classic Stax, Disco, Funk & Northern Soul, the band also finds cool, accessible tunes and mashes them up together to deliver tracks that don’t exist anywhere else eg. Killer/Papa was a Rollin Stone/War – Billie Jean/Last Night a DJ saved my Life - Car Wash/Rappers Delight/Good Times.... and up to date blending of club dance tracks eg. Shined on Me/Where Love Lives - Groove Armada/Crazy P. Delivering a show of exceptional musical quality, performance and professionalism – the band also brings a bit of grit & groove to any occasion.
